Apostrophe(‘)
redesign

The long forgotten CD booklet, a staple of many peoples childhood that has been shoved to the way side thanks to streaming services. The CD booklet is the perfect small format to try to put as much info in as humanly possible. For this project I choose to encompass the world of Frank Zappa’s most well known album Apostrophe (‘). An album full of technical excellence and pure absurdity. The lyrics to Apostrophe are non-sensical to say the least, so to keep with the theme I employed a Dada inspired collage technique to heighten the overall absurd-ness of the whole thing. Each of the selected songs pairs with a collage to provide a visual representation of the subject matter portrayed sonically. As well as a cover redesign to confuse the average passer-by and intrigue those who dare pick it up.
